Pasta - Pasta - Pasta

Today is our last day in Italy and we will be going home tomorrow.  We did not have anything planned to do today, so yesterday we consulted the internet for some ideas.  We didn't want to do anything outside since it was supposed to be around 98 degrees by 5pm - and it was.  Bill was looking at some ideas and came up with the idea of taking a pasta cooking class, which included wine and lunch.  Karen of course was all for it.

This morning after going across the street for breakfast (chocolate croissants), we started out walking across the Ponte Vecchio Bridge towards the Duomo to the cooking class (approx. 15-min. walk).

Our hotel door is on the corner where you see B&B.  The cross walk leads onto the Ponte Vecchio Bridge and at 9:30am there are very few crowds, whereas the afternoon is wall to wall people.

When we got to the cooking class door, we were told that we had the wrong address and that our class was back towards our hotel about a block away.

A very nice Chinese girl also had the wrong address, so the three of us hoofed it back to the right address which was 3-min from our hotel.  Once we got there we were instructed in mixing up pasta dough and everyone finally got it right.

We cut our pasta dough into three sections and with the first we formed ravioli and filled them with ricotta cheese. Next, we made tortellini filled with ricotta cheese.  Then we made pappardelle noodles.

That's Bill's in the foreground.

Our chef cooked up all the pasta we made and created 3 different sauces, one for each type noodle we made and served it up to us.

The class pasta.

It was fun and everything tasted great.

Just as we were leaving our class, Karen noticed on her phone a message from Delta that our flight tomorrow from Florence to Paris on Air France had been canceled - why?  So, Bill spent the next few hours on the phone with 3 different airlines to get us home tomorrow.  We're finally are on a flight from Florence to London on British Airways and then from London to LAX on Virgin Atlantic.  We don't have seats yet on the Virgin Atlantic flight so we hope we are not crammed into the back with regular people.

After all that, Bill decided he deserved some gelato, so we took a gelato break.  It was great but no pictures because you're probably tired of seeing all the gelato pictures - but Bill reached his goal of one/day!

We decided that we should have one last Italian pizza for dinner tonight.  First we had a really good salad.

Now the yummy Italian pizza.

This is our last blog for this adventure (unless our new flights get messed up again).  Hope you all enjoyed traveling with us.  'That's all folks'.
