We can't believe we're actually here!

It's so unreal and beautiful waking up with a view of the Swiss Alps and enjoying our balcony before heading to breakfast.

After a fancy Swiss breakfast, our plan was to take the local bus to ride the funicular up one of the mountains.  We got instructions from the hotel receptionist on how to get there, which meant we had to take a local bus.  The locals always say it is easy and its free for us.  We found the 602 bus close to the hotel and hopped on.  We soon found ourselves wondering if we were going in the right direction.  We didn't mind it too much because we got a nice little tour of the main part of St. Moritz and then enjoyed the wildflowers and open grassland in the outskirts of town.

We decided to get off the bus for a pitstop and then take the next 602 bus back to town.  We knew something was wrong because Bill said we needed to go north, not south.  Remember, someone said it was easy! So much for that being easy.  Back in town we decided it would best to go to the tourist information center and get more precise directions.  The tourist office representative told us that the 602 bus was the right bus but we just got on it going the wrong direction.  He told us we needed the bus stop for 602 labelled B, not A (our earlier mistake) and where to find it.  He also told us where to get off at the funicular, so after some lovely rides on a sunny day through the Swiss countryside we arrived at the funicular.

We're ready to make our way up the mountain in the funicular.

Up we go to 2,200 feet from the valley below.

Karen always enjoys a funicular ride instead of a gondola because the height doesn't bother her and in just a few minutes you are on the mountain.  The views were beyond words (maybe a few picture will help).

We were surrounded by about 30 mountain peaks covered in snow.  We enjoyed walking around the mountain area and then settled down to some really good sandwiches for lunch.

Lunch with a view.

St. Moritz is in the distance just above the lake.

After enjoying the views at 8,058 feet, it was time to make our way back down the mountain on the funicular.  It was hard to leave because it was so beautiful up here. We just can't believe we're actually here enjoying the Swiss Alps - and we were blessed to be here on such a beautiful day.  Thank you Lord.

We're loving it.

Down we go.

We found Bus 602 after leaving the funicular - and we're going in the right direction!

Since this is our last day in Switzerland we made an effort to find some Swiss chocolate.  Our valiant effort was rewarded with free samples at the store.  We loved our samples and of course bought some for our train ride tomorrow - and a snack in our room.

Bill couldn't wait so he had a piece of his salted chocolate caramel after we got back to our room.

Since it is our last night in St. Moritz, we ate in the hotel dining room which over looks the lake below and the Alps.

Tomorrow is a travel day. Bye for now.
