Did she?

This is our last train travel day and it is a beautiful day with light sea breezes.  We had a taxi pick us up at the hotel and drive us to the train station - about 1/2 mile.  Last time we were here we walked with our roller bags but now that we are older, the taxi was much easier.  We got their earlier than needed but we were able to relax on a cool morning.

Our train took us to Pisa where we had to change trains for our second leg to take us to Florence.  Once again there were a lot of people traveling and when it was time for us to board the train, we were in a crowd.  As soon as Bill got on the train he told Karen that he had been pick pocketed and he didn't know where his wallet was.  Karen was concerned but she looked to her left and saw a college age girl and she was holding up his wallet.  We were very glad to get the wallet back and thanked her very much.  After we got to our seats we started wondering if that girl was the actual pickpocket.  It happened so fast that now we think there was no other explanation.  Stranger things have happened.  Bill thinks she might have seen that he only had a 5 euro bill in his wallet and she gave it back because it wasn't worth it or getting caught.  We will never know - did she?

The rest of our last train ride to Florence was very enjoyable and we made it to our hotel and walked down the street for lunch - a very authentic Italian lunch - with minestrone soup and a caprese salad with really good tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

After lunch it was time for us to find a bank for more euros and a gelato.  At the bank we were having trouble figuring out the Italian ATM so Karen went in the bank and came out with a banker. He helped and soon we have some more money.

As we walked over the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge, Karen looked.

Our hotel is just over the bridge on that side.

The famous bridge.

Lot of tourists on the bridge.

She made a purchase - but not gold!

Walkway along the river.

We're only a few hundred feet from the Ponte Vecchio Bridge.

For dinner we found a very popular neighborhood side walk restaurant in a square 10 min. from our hotel.

It was great.  Wow, all the food has been great.

Our walk back to our hotel, this is from another bridge looking at the Ponte Vecchio bridge.
