Rain - Go Away!
On the road today driving from the west coast of Scotland to the east coast this morning - about a 3 1/2 hr drive. It was a beautiful sunny day to start, but like the U.S. coasts, it rains more on the eastern coast than in the west. It started raining within an hour of leaving Glengarry Castle Hotel and has not stopped yet.
Along the way we made a rest stop at a very exclusive shopping area, House of Bruar and enjoyed strolling around. Bill is really getting the hang of driving on the other side of the road, even in the rain. Because this was a travel day with rain, we didn't take any pictures (well, maybe 2 for fun). So we're inserting a lovely picture of one of our neightbors at Glengarry Castle Hotel saying goodbye.
As we got within 45-min of St. Andrews, we spotted a farm sign stating it had a restaurant in addition to a nursery. We thought, let's see if we can get lunch and found it to be "quite lovely" as the Scots would say. In fact, the gentleman manning the "till" (Scottish for register) was the owner of the farm and all the produce was fresh from the farm surrounding the place. We had some really good, fresh salad and homemade soups. This was a great find and the homemade shortbread cookies - well, you get the drift.
After arriving in St. Andrews, we walked around the Old Course (in the rain) and browsed in the gift store. You are able to walk around the course because they are closed to play on Sunday. We also looked for places to get dinner and decided the Links Course Clubhouse would be place. At least if Bill doesn't play here we got to eat there!
At 4pm we checked into the Kinburn House B&B. The B&B is only 3 blocks to the starter shack and the Centre of town. To assist Bill, the owner went on line to see how many golf spaces are available for Monday. As a single player, the only way on is by showing up early and waiting in line.
After looking at how many slots are available, it looks pretty good. The bad news is golfers wanting to get on show up as early as 2am to get a place in line hoping they get on. The starter comes in at 6am and begins filling in open spaces. Bill definitely wants to play, but will not get in line at the starter shack until approx. 5am and take his chances. There are at least 15 spots open and often they have no shows for various reasons.
So in conclusion, Bill really doesn't know his chances for getting on until he shows up tomorrow "early" morning. We will be waiting anxiously to see how tomorrow turns out. The weather report is rain tomorrow again, but we hope the weather man is wrong.

Great photos and commentary. It feels like we are traveling with you! Until this post, looks like you have had wonderful weather. I guess there is a reason everything is so green. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more when you start the cruise phase of your travels.
