Cousins in Copenhagen - Really.

Getting up at 4:30 was a little early for us, but we needed to grab our flight to London and then on to Copenhagen.  We arrived Copenhagen at 1pm and met up with Mike & Carla in the airport. Of course finding each other was a challenge, but after 30-min of cell phone communication we met up, hugged and caught a taxi to the beautiful Copenhagen Marriott. The room and view from our room is grand and we're very happy to see sun once again.

After checking in, Mike, Bill, and Karen took a walk while Carla took a little nap. We walked by Tivoli Gardens and the cobblestone streets of the old town area. We walked by the community center then headed back to wake Carla.

Along the way adjacent to the Marriott, we watched while kids jumped into the canal from walkways 20-ft above the water. The city designed an area for kids to swim, jump in, platforms in the water, etc. We said if our grandkids were with us, they'd be joining in on the fun.

About a year ago Carla did some research on our Danish heritage and found a cousin in Copenhagen.  After some on and off emailing, Carla found out that they would be in San Francisco while we are here so we thought we wouldn't get to meet.  They suggested that we could get together with another one of our cousins.  So their cousin, Elsebeth picked us up at the hotel and drove us to their apartment.  It was in a beautiful old building and we enjoyed a tour of their spacious and beautiful apartment.  We met her nusband Harald and 10 year old daughter Barbara. They served us some Danish pastry as an appetitizer and then we went off to a resturant that Carla had made reservations at.  It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed eating outside.  We really enjoyed meeting these distant relatives and had a fun time together.

After dinner we met Ric and Vicki Green at the Marriott. They told us about the wonderful time they had in Norway and how beautiful the country is.  Tomorrow we have a full day to see the sights of Copenhagen.
