The Ullikana Inn 2.0

Good morning Louie.  That is the person we greeted in the kitchen this morning.  He is a big friendly black lab who belongs to the owners of the Inn and he was happy to greet us.

After greeting Louie and talking to the owner about Karen's special breakfast request, we sat down to a great 3 course breakfast.  Granola cereral, homemade raspberry muffins, cooked apple with cranberry stuffing and yogurt then french scrambled eggs over toasted ciabatta bread and of course tea, juice and more...yummy!

With full stomachs, we headed out to Acadia National Park around 10:30 am.  The weather was chilly (for us SOCAL peeps) and slightly overcast, but no rain.  First we drove up to Cadillac Mountain in the park for great views of the island.  The island itself is called Mount De'sert Island (french) which we think is weird because it is anything but a desert.  In fact, the park is one of the most beautiful we have seen.  Beautiful green trees with some that have started changing and showing vibrant colors.  It is still a little early for the color peak here.

After coming down from Cadillac Mountain we went to Sandy Beach (a really clever name for a beach) but, with so many rocky cliffs, it's the only sand beach around.

Then we took the ocean trail that skirted the shoreline which was mostly a rocky with beautiful rocks formations and vistas.  We took advantage of the side trails to walk out on the rocks. Truly a beautiful area with a little sun now and 63 degrees.

After this hike, we decided to mosey back to Bar Harbor for lunch around 2:30 pm. We were so full from breakfast that we didn't think about taking any provisions with us and dowtown was only 20-minutes from where we were in the park.  We had a nice lunch and then browsed the shops some more.

When we returned to the Inn...

...from our park tour we were delighted to see the FedEx man delivering a package to the Inn - for Karen.  It was Karen's passport!!!  Now Karen can continue with Bill into Canada tomorrow.

We sat around the real wood fire here in the living room enjoying cheese, wine, crackers, stuffed grape leaves and olives before heading out for dinner. Instead of taking the short walk to town, we took the beach, semi-paved walkway the long way. A beautiful walk before dinner was needed to work off some calories.

After dinner a stroll thru town and back at the Inn to enjoy a roaring before we prepare for our departure tomorrow after breakfast. Canada, here we come!
