2022 Costa Rica Adventure

This years adventure took us to Costa Rica for 10-days. This is a record of our trip for your viewing pleasure. We arrived on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Approximately 1-hr from the airport, we crossed over Crocodile Bridge. 45-min later, we arrived at Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort, Herradura Bay.

Gorgeous grounds to enjoy and lots of pools.

All settled in, we walked around the property then dined in their restaurant.

On Monday, we went into the local town of Jaco for our 3-hr ATV Jungle Waterfall Adventure tour to the top of the local mountain.

Nice day for ATV's

We really enjoyed our private tour and stops along the way.

Another fun adventure with beautiful jungle views and river. We skipped the waterfall because it was dangerous. We also missed a great picture along the way when monkeys jumped from the left side of the trail over our heads to the right side. Because we went in the off season, we ended up with a private tour!

Tuesday all suited up for a fantastic zip line tour.

We really enjoyed our 2 1/2 hr. Aerial Tram to the mountain and tree tops in the rain forest where we'd start our zip lining back down the mountain.

There she goes!

Karen was a little apprehensive but conquered her fear of heights and off she went down the mountain landing on 10 different tree top stops, with 5 cables 656 feet long - yippee! And no hands! I followed. I was so proud of her.

Back at the Marriott enjoying our walk to the Marina for dinner.

Wednesday we drove 4-hrs to La Fortuna with an overnight bag, stopping at the Sloth Watching trail.

We saw 6 sloths high in the trees.

After seeing the sloths, we spent a night at Sangregado Lodge high in the trees, a few miles from La Fortuna. Our view was fantastic and yes, there are no bathroom curtains - like being in a tree house - but only the animals can see you..

The view from the bed was great showing our outdoor patio deck and the Arenal Volcano.

Thursday morning we enjoyed the Mistico Handing Bridges tour, across the parking lot from the Sangregado Lodge.

Karen would only go across the hanging bridges by herself to keep the sway to a minimum before I followed. There are 15 bridges, 6 hanging bridges that are 150-ft off the jungle floor and 157-ft long.

Here is one of the stationary bridges. The trail runs for 2-miles. A fantastic morning walk.

Thursday on our way back to the Marriott, we stopped for lunch at Tom's Pan German Bakery in Nuevo Arenal. We had a great lunch and bought lots of pastries for eating later. Yummy.

Karen enjoyed her Spa treatment on Friday while Bill enjoyed a round of golf at Marriott's La Iguana Golf Course - and he had a great round teaming up with a local.

After spending a week (minus one night in La Fortuna), we drove up the coast to Tamarindo. Tamarindo is a beach town with lots of shops, restaurants and a beautiful beach. We stayed at the Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort right on the beach for 3-nights.

View from our window.

Nightly entertainment at our resort.

We enjoyed touring around town, walking on the beach, having Gelato and eating some great food. Tamarindo is kinda like Lahaina on Maui.

Surf's up on Tamarindo beach.

Sunday we enjoyed our pool and Gelato's.

For our last adventure, we signed up for a Estuary Boat Safari tour through the mangroves.

Beautiful mangrove estuary.

Bill spotted this small crocodile and we saw a very large crocodile later but no picture.

We stopped and got off the boat to see all the Howler Monkeys. Our guide made noises similar to what they make and the large male started howling so loud. There were a dozen in the trees following their leader.

After our tour, we enjoyed the outside dining at the resort.

We really enjoyed sunset each night from our patio and beach. We had a great time in Costa Rica, but the next day we had to say goodbye.

Good bye and Cheers until our next adventure.
