A Grand Canyon in Hawaii

Tuesday was a fun adventurous day for all. The girls went for a walk in the morning along the beach while the guys played Kukuiolono Park Golf Course - best deal in Hawaii. A regulation 9 hole course in great condition overlooking the Pacific. Why the best deal ever?Very few tourists know about it and it's only $9 all day, $9 for Callaway rental clubs per 9-holes and $3 for a pull cart. What a great course and fantastic deal.

After the guys returned, we headed out to Waimea. Our first stop was Hanapepe, a small Kauai town where we went to the Taro KO Chips factory in a very small bldg.

Inside we met the only worker and the boss man (black shirt). They showed us how they make the chips and we bought a couple bags in different flavors. When everyone left the bldg, Bill continued chatting with the owner. When Bill started to leave, the owner insisted on giving him another bag of chips for free. Bill tried to pay or tip him, but in typical Aloha spirit, he wouldn't take a dime saying, "you guys were very nice" and these are for you.

Next stop, the Hannapepe swinging bridge. Here's the group enjoying a fun day.

Back in the van we went for a short distance before Carla spotted the Kauai Kookie factory, so we had to stop. Of course Bill jumped out and photo-bombed her picture. After a short stop, Bill had his desert after eating a frozen banana for lunch.

Finally, on our way to the Grand Canyon of Kauai on a beautiful sunny day with mild temperatures.

On our way back to the condo, we stopped for a tour of the Kauai Coffee Company. We didn't try any samples since we don't drink coffee but others liked what they tried. The tour was very educational learning that each tree only produces 1-1 1/2 lbs a year - and they have 4 million trees!

After returning from a long and adventurous day, we got cleaned up and went to dinner at La Spezia Italian restaurant. Great food, great company, fun day.
