Sea Turtles and Horses at the Sea

Beautiful view out our window this morning as we prepare for today's adventures. After a casual breakfast here at the hotel we walked over to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center where injured sea turtles are cared for and hopefully released to continue their lives at sea.  BTW - these are breakfast turtles...not the live kind! They had lots of big turtles being treated and some stay there for a year before getting released.  This one below is a year old. It was feeding time and we got some good pictures.  One worker was trying to give a Loggerhead turtle his medicine by putting the pills in a piece of fish but the sneaky turtle 🐢 would sometimes spit it out and she would have to try again with another piece of fish.  We think the turtle was smart and kept spitting it out so he could get more fish - sneaky turtle! Jekyll Island

We arrived at the Jekyll Island Club Resort in Georgia today at 4pm. This resort is part of the Historic Hotels of America. Built in 1886 as a hunting retreat, it was restored several times and after the 1985 restoration it became a luxurious hotel. The property covers several hundred acres with cottages, a large pool and church. Here are just a few pictures. A beautiful room where we will stay for 2- nights.  We had a great dinner at the Corsair restaurant at the beach where Bill had a margarita pizza and Karen had pasta with lots of veggies. After dinner we walked along the beach then drove around the island and watched a beautiful sunset. Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures.
