Who serves French Fries with Lasagna?

It was a good thing we were leaving Dublin today because today was the day of their big gay pride parade plus Harry and Megan are coming to town on Tues to see the Book of Kells and the town will be a mess.  So, after having another wonderful breakfast, we said a fond farewell to The Shelbourne Hotel and headed to the airport to pick up our rental car. We hit the road and with only one little wrong turn (not bad for driving a stick shift with the driver in the right seat and the driving on the left) we were soon driving through the Irish countryside.  We found the town of Waterford and the car knew its way to The Waterford Experience. The tour was very interesting and it was fun to see master craftsmen working at every stage of the process. We thought it was facinating that such beauty can be made from ordinary materials, like sand, lead, and potash. Typical blowing but very accurate.  Dropping into the mold then blowing it to fill the mold. The process con

A Wee Bit Irish!

We arrived in Dublin last night. We knew we were in Ireland as soon as our taxi driver spoke...Patrick was the real deal. Sometimes hard to understand, but a real nice Irish man. The weather was perfect and he told us that yesterday (Thursday) was their hottest day in 45 years - 90 degrees (see today's newspaper)! For us, it felt like home, except the sun doesn't set until 10:30 pm. Once settled in at The Shelbourne Dublin, we managed an evening walk after flying 14 hours before a good nights sleep. This morning, before a long day of touring, we needed a hearty breakfast and The Shelbourne really provided that without charge. A really nice start to the day - and today's high was a pleasant 75 degrees! Then off to our 9 am tour to see the Book of Kells & Old Library exhibition at Trinity College. The Book of Kells is Ireland's greatest cultural treasure and the world's most famous medieval manuscript. The tour included the beautiful '

Grand Canyon Expedition

On June 8, 2018, along with my son Bob and my sisters husband Anker, we went on an out-of-this-world adventure. For eight memorable days, we covered 277 river miles, negotiating nearly 200 exciting rapids on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. After being picked up in Las Vegas at 5am on Saturday, June 8th, we headed to Lees Ferry, Arizona by bus where we met our crew and rafts. Our first stop was at Jacob Lake for a potty break and cookies (our guide said best home made ever). Bob jumped the gun on everyone and bought 2-dozen - and yes, he shared. At 10am, we boarded our rafts and headed down river. Then on Saturday, June 17th, at noon, we departed the river at Pearce Ferry on Lake Mead where we boarded the bus for our return to Las Vegas. Our two rafts, known as S-Rigs, carried 14 adventures plus two boatmen each. These 37-ft rafts constructed of neoprene-coated nylon and welded aluminum frames, carried everything needed to sustain us for 8-days, to include an extra
