A Tacky Grill
Bill and Karen started the morning off by walking the beach for about an hour. Along the way we saw several dolphins playing close to shore in the surf - pretty cool. We also saw a small stingray that had washed ashore.
After breakfast we all headed out to Hunting Island State Park Lighthouse near Beaufort, S.C. This historic lighthouse was built in 1859, destroyed during the civil war and rebuilt in 1875. It was dismantled and moved in 1893 to its current location due to erosion. The beach and forest surrounding the area was lush and beautiful.
Bill and Karen decided to hike up the 167 stairs to the top. The inside was cool with lots of history placards and the view was spectacular.
For lunch we stopped at Marsh Tacky Grill and Cafe, a small place along the way. It was very beachy and small and the food was great.
Next on the agenda was the farmers market in Beaufort - we thought. Although the net said it started this week, it didn't. No problem, lots of stores along the main street after stopping at DQ for dessert. On our way out of town, we drove around several residential streets admiring the old antebellum homes and beautiful trees and yards.
On the way back to the timeshare we stopped at Fresh Market and picked up some things for dinner. After dinner we continued working on our jigsaw puzzle and then played a game of Phase 10. It was a busy day with beautiful weather - 83 degrees!
