Virginia is for Lovers

We arrived in Williamsburg, Virginia Saturday night at 9:00 pm after getting up at 4:30 am. But, let's backup for a minute before starting out on this vacation - oops, when you're retired you don't get weekends, holidays or vacation - every day is the same.

It all started Friday night. Bill noticed a wet spot next to the water heater in the garage. He removed the pilot light cover and there it was - rust, more rust and drip, drip, drip. So he went to work jury rigging a catch pan which he emptied every 30-min until we had a shower, dinner and ran the dishwasher. After the dishes were done and he was packed, back into the garage he went to shut off the water supply to the water heater and to set up a drain to empty the tank. By 10:30 pm, 50 gallons of hot water was dumped. Of course that meant NO hot water this morning - burr! Although this happened the evening before we were leaving for a week, it was a real blessing. We couldn't fathom coming home to a big, water logged mess in the garage. Yes we were bummed it happened, but gratefull Bill caught it before our early morning departure.

After shutting off the house water this morning, off we went in our taxi to the airport. Our flight departed on time at 6:45 am. We were thankful we still had some first class upgrades left in our account, but they are running out fast since Bill retired and we both finished taking stem cell trips. It won't be long before we're relegated to economy. We landed in WDC at 5:00 pm, picked up our rental car and headed south to Williamsburg, Virginia. I'd like to say I took this picture, but not. But, 3-years ago I was there during the Cherry Blossum Festival and saw the beauty.

Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony is very beautiful and will now be our home away from home until next Saturday. We have a 2-bedroom unit with large living room, dining table for 6, and and a large bath with jacuzzi tub. The swans were on the bed to welcome us.

It's time to say good night, but stay tuned throughout the week and follow us as we play tourists. Of course when in Virginia, you plenty of signs saying "Virginia is for Lovers" and this is Valentines week.
