R&R Day
Marriott has really given us the royal treatment. We have a Delux Ocean View room, two sinks in the bathroom, a large flat panel TV, bar and small refrigerator. As noted last night, we love our upgraded spacious room and oversize balcony.
This morning we opened the drapes and the view is spectacular. The sounds of the waves breaking on shore, the smell of plumaria, the palm trees fluttering in the sea breeze - wow, this is paradise! We commented how blessed we are that Bill traveled extensively over the last 30-years amassing several million airline and hotel points and now we're able to take advantage of the perks.
Today was our R&R day after spending a fun filled, 50th Anniversary week with family - and a busy one at that, with 6 Kelly's from Arizona staying with us, so we are now enjoying our R & R time. We started our day with a late breakfast on our balcony, compliments of the resort as they left us papaya and banana bread last night.
Since Karen had not stayed here (Bill stayed here 3-4 times for Hawaii National Guard events), after our breakfast snack we strolled the premises and just enjoyed God's creation.
In the afternoon it was time to grab some lunch at the Waikoloa Resort and pick up a few breakfast items. After returning to our room, it was beach time and a nap on the lounge chairs with wonderful afternoon breezes. Life in paradise.
Dinner tonight was here at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Copper Bar - casual dining overlooking the beach with live Hawaiian music and a graceful hula dancer.
After sunset we went back to the waters edge to watch the manta rays under the hotel spot light feeding on plankton, a great way to finish off our 1st full day in Hawaii.
